A spate of daring thefts has Memphis police hot on the tails of several suspects accused of stealing high-dollar electronics. Among them, 28-year-old Brandon Clay now faces charges in relation to the theft of approximately $14,000 worth of TVs from multiple box cars. According to Action News 5, Clay allegedly lifted the televisions from several box cars in South Memphis on Monday.

Officials responded to the reported burglary near Neptune Street and Ioka Avenue and found Clay removing TVs from a box car, per Memphis Police. Running from the officers, evading arrest on foot, Clay was eventually detained by the pursuing lawmen. Found stealing $14,000 worth of TVs from eight boxcars, Clay is charged with eight counts of burglary of a box car, theft of property $10,000-60,000, and evading arrest, as FOX13 Memphis reported. He is scheduled for a court appearance this Friday.

Meanwhile, a related incident unfolded at a Royal Furniture warehouse off Brooks Road, where police say two men, Anthony Huggins and Lachristian Freeman, were apprehended while hauling away 75-inch smart TVs. As detailed by WREG, after responding to a burglar alarm at 11 a.m. Saturday, officers found Huggins receiving TV sets from Freeman, who was inside a bay door that had been pried open.

While Huggins was taken into custody on the spot, Freeman made an attempt to abscond by running inside the warehouse, but was also caught. Two more males managed to escape, the police say. Both Huggins and Freeman now face charges of burglary of a building and vandalism in the amounts ranging from $2,500 to $10,000. This has marked a concerning trend of large-scale electronics thefts in the Memphis area, putting local law enforcement on high alert.
