A routine trip to a Miami Beach liquor store went awry on Tuesday evening when a firearm accidentally discharged, injuring two individuals. According to Miami Beach police, the incident occurred at a location on the 800 block of Collins Avenue. CBS News Miami reported the police statement which mentioned the "preliminary findings suggest that the incident appears to have been caused by an accidental discharge."
A woman took a bullet to the leg and was subsequently rushed to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center, where she is reported to be stable. Adding to the chaos, found injured at the scene, another man was also transported by ambulance to the same hospital. The specific details of how the shooting went down on Ninth Street and Collins Avenue remain scarce, as the police continue their investigation.
While the police work to piece together the events that led to the accidental shooting, they have detained a male subject for further questioning. Neither WSVN nor CBS News Miami could confirm if the individuals involved were among the throngs of spring breakers that descend upon the city around this time of year.
In the meantime, the woman, despite being a victim of an unintended gunshot, is currently being held for further questioning by investigators. The reason behind her detainment has not been made clear. The investigation into this disconcerting event in one of Miami Beach's busiest areas remains ongoing as authorities attempt to unpack an evening that turned violent on accident.
