Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava expressed her gratitude for the federal funds, noting, "These funds represent a significant investment in the safety and well-being of Miami-Dade residents." The financial boon was made possible thanks to the efforts of Representatives Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Frederica Wilson, Mario Diaz Balart, Carlos Gimenez, and Maria Elvira Salazar. Each played a pivotal role in securing funds for individual projects. Rep. Gimenez, for instance, clinched $9 million for several roadway improvement initiatives. Rep. Diaz-Balart followed close behind him, earmarking nearly $8 million for a mix of roadway and safety enhancement projects.
On the planning front, Rep. Wilson bagged $500,000 dedicated to the "Reconnecting Communities: Station Area Master Analysis" project. These improvements will address a range of infrastructure needs, from traffic congestion to pedestrian safety, including the installation of high-visibility crosswalks. DTPW Chief Operations Officer Jimmy Morales commented on the investment, "These earmarks signify a tremendous investment in the future of transportation safety and accessibility in Miami-Dade County."
