A mother-daughter duo found themselves in handcuffs after allegedly trying to score illegal narcotics by impersonating others. The pair attempted this stunt at the HCA Hospital off Northwest Freeway, according to authorities.
Responding to a call on March 21, 2024, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office arrived on the scene to address the ruse. Kiesma Harris and Jeannere Harris were swiftly pinpointed, the latter being no stranger to law enforcement with several Misdemeanor Warrants to her name. It turned out, the mother-daughter act was no one-time slip. They had made a habit of hitting up local clinics and hospitals to finesse narcotics using the identities of unsuspecting individuals.
Both members of the sneaky syndicate are now cooling their heels in the Harris County Jail, facing charges of Obtaining Drugs by Fraud, as reported by Constable Mark Herman. "Kiesma Harris and Jeannere Harris were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail," Herman stated. Details on their bond and upcoming court appearances have yet to be ironed out.
This latest scam adds another layer to the often under-addressed issue of prescription drug fraud. Both pretend patients now await the next stage in their legal ordeal, a narrative all too common in the endless saga of America's war on drugs. With this incident, the authorities hope it serves as a warning—that they're watching, and healthcare masquerades will not go unnoticed.
