Halfway through Multnomah County's fentanyl emergency, officials are rolling out new tools to track the crisis. Five new overdose data dashboards are set to go live next week, confirmed by Abbey Stamp, a County agency administrator. The dashboards will pull data from various sources, including the County Medical Examiner's Office and emergency departments, providing a clearer picture of the emergency's scope. According to the County's website, this initiative aims at enhancing transparency about the ongoing fentanyl situation.
Stamp indicated the efforts of the Unified Command has resulted in weekly improvements in critical response areas. In a statement obtained by Multnomah County News, she said, "We note the importance of sharing and being transparent about these processes as they emerge week over week." The collaboration has led to more arrests, increased seizures of fentanyl, and a rise in overdose reversals and treatment referrals. It has furthered seen outreach staff contacts surge, a testament to the ongoing campaign against the fentanyl crisis.
The new dashboards, expected to be accessible starting Monday, will be a repository of crucial data, ranging from fentanyl-related visits to urgent care to responses from AMR ambulance and Portland Fire & Rescue. The County hopes this transparency will underpin the public safety measures being deployed to confront the crisis. Stamp told Multnomah County News, "We are having lots of successes during the day; we also know we need to continue to work in the nighttime, evening hours and on the weekends, and different spots that are continuing to challenge some of our coordination efforts."
