Valentine's Day ended in tragedy for one Nashville man, and over two weeks later, cops have finally cuffed the suspected gunman. Patrick G. Cathey, 31, was nabbed by Specialized Investigations Division detectives in Coopertown this Thursday, accused of the cold-blooded murder of Steven Yates, a 34-year-old father who worked at a local candle company.
Yates's final moments came when he was allegedly targeted for a drug-related heist. The fatal encounter unfolded in his workplace parking lot, where Cathey and an accomplice, Nicole Tishma, 37, were lying in wait. According to the Nashville Police Department, the pair confronted Yates, resulting in him being fatally shot.
Tishma, the alleged co-conspirator, didn't evade the law for long either. She was caught on February 20th in Oak Grove, Kentucky, and is currently behind bars as a fugitive. Extradition processes to bring her back to Nashville to stand trial for criminal homicide are underway.
Details surrounding the case are still murky, but what's clear is the relentless effort of law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice. Cathey, who's now facing a criminal homicide charge, is expected to answer for the crime that snuffed out a life too soon.
