Nashville's detectives are on the hunt for a shoplifting suspect accused of hitting the same Publix store multiple times over the past month. The individual in question is said to have brazenly swiped goods from the grocer located at 1010 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on six different occasions, with the earliest reported instance occurring on February 19 and the most recent on March 18, according to a news release from the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The method of operation is always the same: the man arrives by foot, proceeds to quietly fill his large backpack with merchandise, and then stealthily exits the store without attempting to pay. The suspect has been described as a black male with long dreadlocks, standing approximately 5’10” tall and sporting a thin build—a visage made clearly identifiable from the photograph distributed by the authorities. It seems the objective is clear – to catch the perpetrator who's been slipping through the cracks with illicit goods tucked away.
The times of the thefts vary, with the suspect daring to pull off his silent heists both early in the morning and right before the store's closing hours—indicating a sheer disregard for the time of day when committing these crimes. From the earliest timestamp listed at 8:15 a.m., the sequence of thefts weaves through varied hours, the last noted incident happened at 3:15 p.m. on March 18.
The call to action is direct: anyone with the eyes to recognize this individual from the photo is urged to dial into Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Informants have been promised anonymity, with the additional incentive of a potential cash reward. Authorities seem to harbor no doubts – tips from the public will be pivotal in closing the net around the yet unidentified shoplifter.
