Nashville's Hadley Park has a new attraction that combines the beauty of nature with the joy of reading, thanks to Kendall Beard, an ambitious Eagle Scout who has just installed a Storybook Trail featuring Shabazz Larkin's "The Thing About Bees: A Love Letter." According to a NewsChannel 5 report, Beard has left a "buzzworthy" mark with his initiative in a park historically recognized as the first public park for African Americans in the United States.

Beard, who has a personal connection with Hadley Park having frequented it since childhood, dedicated around 120 hours to complete the project which is intended to promote literacy and nature education, and the Governor's Early Literacy Foundation announced on their social media account the opening of this educational trail over the weekend, celebrating the 2023 Boy Scout of the Year's efforts.

The ribbon-cutting event for the Storybook Trail went down on March 2, where attendees were treated to a short program and light refreshments, the trail itself, open to the public during park hours, invites families and individuals to an immersive reading experience in the outdoors; this according to The Tennessee Tribune.

Beard, poised to graduate from Stewarts Creek High School, shared with The Tennessee Tribune, "I really enjoy the outdoors and nature and want to make a contribution to Hadley Park because of its significance as the first public park in the United States for African Americans" he looks forward to studying animal science and agriculture at the University of Tennessee this Fall and his parents expressed immense pride in his love for the outdoors and books evidenced by this trail.
