Murfreesboro was the scene of two separate school bus incidents last Thursday as local police reported no injuries among students. In the first smash-up, a school bus laden with pupils from Blackman Middle School was clipped by a car around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of John Lee and Mansion Pike. Police described the damage to both the bus and the car as minor, as recounted by WKRN.
A second crash occurred shortly after, around 3:49 p.m. Officials say a driver experienced a medical emergency, leading to speedily lose control and rear-end a school bus at the crossroads of Brinkley Road and Mansion Pike. In this incident, the driver alone was hustled to the hospital, their condition not immediately disclosed.
The Murfreesboro Police Department is scrutinizing both events, with the MPD Traffic Unit taking the lead according to information obtained through WSMV. Traffic in the area was affected for a short period while authorities and emergency responders addressed the scenes.
Residents of Mansion Pike witnessed the uncommon occurrence of successive crashes involving school transportation within minutes. "The driver was taken to the hospital," confirmed a spokesperson for the police department, hinting at the potential severity of the medical episode that precipitated the second collision – this detail was also reported by FOX17. Thankfully, each accident managed to sidestep resulting in any student injuries, a small mercy amid the potential chaos of afternoon traffic and school commutes.
