Queen Creek residents, clean out your closets, garages, and junk drawers. The Town of Queen Creek has announced the upcoming QC Recycles event, a not-to-be-missed drive-through drop-off slated for April 20 from 7 to 11 a.m. The event, which is free for Town residents, will take place at the Town’s Field Operations Facility, posted at 19715 S. 220th Street, north of Queen Creek Road.
According to the Town's announcement, participants looking to get ahead of the game should head over to QueenCreekAZ.gov/RecycleEvents, to register by April 15. Following registration, contributors will be emailed a Fast Pass 48 hours before, the event to expedite their drop-off process.
The event accepts a myriad of items, including appliances, electronics, metals, tires, latex paint, and paper for shredding. A partnership with the QCPD also allows for the safe disposal of prescription drugs, minus liquids, needles, and inhalers. Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona allies with the effort to collect textiles and small furniture, and Stardust takes gently used construction materials off residents' hands. However, some items like household hazardous waste, batteries, and mattresses won’t make the cut.
For the recyclables that warm up the corners of your house, the QC Recycling Center will gladly take off your hands items such as aluminum cans, plastic water bottles, and flattened cardboard. The center is located on Ellsworth Road, just spitting distance north of Crewse Lane. And remember, items to be disposed of should be in your trunk or truck bed, the Town and partners dodge responsibility for any personal items left behind.
Queen Creek is also going all out this April to celebrate Earth Day with a barrage of activities designed to inspire sustainability. These include an Earth Month calendar, a trails scavenger hunt, a free outdoor movie, and workshops on landscape watering. Residents can get the full score of events at QueenCreekAZ.gov/EarthMonth. Moreover, as they engage in these eco-friendly activities, residents are encouraged to share their Earth Month journey on social media with the hashtag #QCEarthMonth.
