The Colma Police Department responded to a theft in progress at a business on the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard last Sunday night. The suspect, later identified as Jorge Manzo, a 34-year-old San Francisco resident, apparently had tried to take off with goods valued at around $791.23.

When confronted by officers as he strutted out of the store, Manzo decided playtime with aliases was a good move. Initially giving law enforcement a fake name, he saw the error of his ways when an all-expenses-paid trip to the station for fingerprinting was on offer, promptly spilling his real moniker. "After being placed under arrest, the male provided officers with a fake name," Colma Police mentioned in their report. When it came down to brass tacks, a record check unveiled a $5,000 outstanding misdemeanor warrant on his name courtesy of a neighboring agency.

Manzo's Sunday shopping spree abruptly ended with his arrest for petty theft, supplying false information to the peace officers, and on the warrant. But in a twist, he got slapped with a citation and a new court date instead of a cell. He walked free again, with just his promise to face the music at court singing him out of the precinct.

The Colma Police Department's detailed account of the high jinks indicated that the incident occurred at approximately 10:04 pm, when the officers were alerted about the ongoing theft. Merchandise, now evidence, concealed in not one but multiple duffle bags, had been stashed away by Manzo in the restroom before his audacious exit. "Officers arrived on scene and contacted the male as he exited the store with the unpaid merchandise," detailed the police statement.
