San José Police Arrest Six Suspected Gang Members After Assault, Seize Weapons and Drugs in Multi-City OperationSource: San José Police Department

In a major crackdown on gang violence, the San José Police Department (SJPD) announced the arrest of six suspects linked to a gang-motivated assault that wielded deadly weapons. The San Jose PD Patrol Officers initially responded to the scene at a business on Senter Road back in October after reports of the assault came through, finding a male victim who luckily sustained non-life-threatening injuries after the attack from multiple assailants.

The SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) spearheaded a meticulous investigation to track down the six individuals responsible. The individuals identified as Francis Ocampo, Anthony Nguyen, Branden Un, Bao Nguyen, Tri Nguyen, and Christian Sung now face the consequences of their actions. The SJPD stated that an "assault rifle, fifteen handguns—including stolen, privately made, and unregistered weapons—a 3D printer, firearm parts, ghost gun precursor parts, and more than $80,000 in cash were seized during the warrant searches." The reported haul also includes significant quantities of drugs, tallying up to 13.5 kilos of MDMA, 6 kilos of methamphetamine, 2 kilos of cocaine, and 2 kilos of heroin.

According to an official statement from SJPD released on March 27, the six men were arrested on March 20 after detectives served arrest and search warrants across various residences in San José, Garden Grove, Westminster, and Santa Ana. The agencies participating in this large-scale, inter-agency effort included the FBI, Westminster Police Department, Garden Grove Police Department, West County SWAT Team, and other local and federal law enforcement bodies.

Suspect Sung was picked up by SJPD in San José and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail. At the same time, suspects Ocampo and Anthony Nguyen were nabbed by Homeland Security Investigations in Garden Grove, suspect Un by Westminster Police in Westminster, Bao Nguyen by Garden Grove Police in Garden Grove, and Tri Nguyen was also arrested by Homeland Security Investigations, but on separate charges. They were booked into Orange County Jail, with the primary charge being assault with a deadly weapon. The SJPD has extended gratitude to all agencies and units involved in the operation.

The SJPD asks for any additional information related to the case and encourages individuals to contact Detective Balala or Officer Kim of the SJPD Gang Investigations Unit. They have also invited the public to submit anonymous crime tips through the P3TIPS mobile app, the provided tip line, or the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers website. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to any arrests.
