Hollywood, FL residents, brace yourselves for some inconvenience starting next week as a slice of Stan Goldman Park's walking trail will be off-limits. Starting April 1st, barricades are going up from Johnson Street down to the property held by the Knights of Columbus as the area gears up for an overhaul. The City of Hollywood has indicated that with heavy machinery and construction crews swarming in, shutting it down to pedestrian traffic is all about keeping the public safe.
According to an official announcement, "this area will be an active construction site and will be closed to the public for safety reasons." However, it's not all doom and gloom for park-goers. The north end of the park won't be touched, meaning you can still hit the loos and park your car as usual.
Updates on the timeline for these enhancements are tentative, with promises of more news to trickle in as the season progresses. Those itching for a round of pickleball, the courts are set to make a return later this spring, the exact date still hanging in the balance. "Stay tuned for updates regarding the reopening of the pickleball courts later this spring," reads the notice from the City of Hollywood's website.
For those keeping tabs on the progress, or just missing their daily jaunt along the usual path, patience is the name of the game. In the meantime, the City is pushing out gratitude to residents, "We thank you for your patience as we complete these exciting improvements to your neighborhood park!" Meanwhile, alternate routes and recreational activities are the makeshift solution for local park enthusiasts. A peek at the full statement is available on both the City of Hollywood website and PublicNow.
