A 15-year-old boy was shot in the arm after a scuffle in the lobby of the Hilton Miami Downtown, Miami police confirmed early Wednesday. The incident, which happened just before 2:30 a.m. at the posh hotel on Biscayne Boulevard, sent the teenage victim to the hospital in stable condition, but the shooter remains at large, according to police statements.
The overnight violence prompted a swift response from law enforcement with a notable police presence cordoning off the scene as detectives combed for clues, NBC Miami reported.
Authorities have yet to slap the cuffs on anyone in connection to the shooting and the story is still unfolding; however, officers have detained a possible suspect for a heart-to-heart chat behind closed doors, Local 10 revealed.
The Hilton Miami Downtown, a venue typically associated with high-thread-count sheets and sparkling water, was instead briefly transformed into a crime scene. Although the police have not yet provided a full dossier on the events leading to the shooting, the investigation is actively ongoing to unravel the sequence that left the halls of hospitality echoing with gunshots instead of greetings.
As the probe into the gunfire stretches on with detectives on the lookout for evidence, community tip-offs are in high demand by the authorities, who are urging anyone with information to ring up the Miami Police Department or dial Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers, where campaigns for truth can be waged anonymously if preferred.
