A family from Washougal, Washington, is elated as their son Teddy, who defied the odds after being born three months premature and weighing a mere 14 ounces, is slated to leave the hospital soon. Madelyn and Gabe Heredia's journey began with a shocking diagnosis during a routine prenatal visit last September, where instead of learning their baby's gender, they discovered he was suffering from Intrauterine Growth Restriction, a condition impairing his development in the womb, as reported by KPTV.

"We found out that he was incredibly small and very growth-restricted, We had a lot of placenta issues, so he was losing blood flow fast so the longer he stayed inside, the more dangerous it was," the Heredias explained in an interview with KSL.
