The Washington State Patrol is on the hunt for a suspect following a gun-fueled road rage confrontation on State Route 167. In a Monday night mayhem, a driver reported being shot at while behind the wheel near Grady Way in Renton, blocking out injury but marking their vehicle with evidence of the altercation.

Details from KIRO 7 indicate the incident fired off around 7:20 p.m. as the victim, driving northbound, phoned 911 to report the incident nearly 20 minutes after the shooting. A bullet hole was later confirmed in the vehicle's right front fender, a silent testament to the roadside rage that had rapidly escalated. The bullet was found to have lodged itself in the wheel well, too entrenched to be retrieved.

The altercation sparked when the victim, cruising in a white Toyota Camry, became the target of a black Jeep Cherokee's fury as the latter failed to pass due to the cluttered traffic. What began with the Jeep's driver tossing a fast-food cup escalated wildly when the victim retaliated with a hydro flask, according to details provided by KOMO News.

The confrontation took a darker turn when the Jeep's driver, a black male in his 30s with a small beard, pulled alongside the Camry to rapidly fire a shot from a handgun. In response, the victim was forced to speed through a red light to escape, not realizing their vehicle had been hit until the safety of home beckoned. "The Jeep then pulled along side of the victim and the driver, described as a black man in his 30s with a small beard, fired one shot from a handgun," the victim told Fox 13 Seattle.

Authorities are now appealing to the public, eager for witnesses to step forward with any information or video evidence. Traffic cameras or dashcam footage could provide crucial links to piecing together the road rage puzzle and identifying the suspect who triggered this dangerous chain of events.
