A tragic scene unfolded in Carver, Massachusetts, where a 56-year-old woman perished after her car collided with a utility pole earlier today. According to Boston 25 News, the Carver resident's identity was withheld pending notification of kin.
Officials reported to the crash site around 5:38 a.m. at 240 Main St., where they discovered the vehicle entwined with wires, the utility pole snapped in half above it. In the wake of the incident, a stretch of Route 58 shut down for the investigation, though it has partially reopened, one lane at a time, traffic trickles past the wreckage. Carver Police, along with the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, are scrutinizing the details of the crash. Earlier on Wednesday, the Carver police had notified residents about phone lines being down, an issue potentially related to the accident.
The driver, who was alone in her vehicle, was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth by ambulance but was later pronounced dead at the facility. The images captured at the scene depicted the severity of the impact: a vehicle barely recognizable as such, and the power of the collision evidenced by the pole's fractured state.
