
A fatal collision at a Pittsfield Township intersection claimed the life of a woman and left two men with injuries, officials reported. The incident, involving a 2012 Scion TC and a 2010 Ford Escape, occurred shortly before 8 p.m. this past Monday.
At the time of the crash at Packard and Carpenter roads, the Scion, driven by a 35-year-old Ann Arbor man, was attempting a left turn onto Carpenter Road. While doing so, it was hit by the Escape, which was heading east on Packard Road, according to the information provided by CBS News Detroit. Police say the woman, seated in the Scion's front passenger side, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased woman, pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Scion has been listed in critical condition, while the 22-year-old driver of the Ford Escape from Ypsilanti suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening, Patch reported.
While the investigation continues, police have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, with the area closed for investigation until around 11:30 p.m. Monday, as per an update by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office on social media. No immediate details on the cause of the collision have been provided, and police are urging witnesses or those with pertinent information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
