A 14-year-old girl became the unintended victim of senseless gun violence when shots rang out at a Northwest Atlanta residence early Monday, law enforcement officials report. The Atlanta Police Department said they responded to a shooting incident at 24 South Eugenia Pl NW, where they found the young female with gunshot wounds.

According to a statement from the Atlanta Police Department, the call came in around 12:25 am, with police arriving at the scene to discover the injured teen, preliminary findings suggest an unknown vehicle had pulled up outside the home where it's occupants fired multiple shots that penetrated the residence, one of which struck the victim and with the shooters having fled the scene investigators are now piecing together clues to identify those responsible.

Emergency medical services rushed the girl to Scottish Rite Hospital for treatment, as detectives commenced their investigation into the cowardly act that shattered the predawn calm. No arrests have been made so far and authorities are continuing to explore the motive behind the attack, which remains unclear at this stage of their inquiries.
