A young woman's life was cut short Wednesday night in a shooting that erupted in Northaven, leaving two men injured and one man behind bars. 22-year-old Daja Halliburton was critically wounded and later pronounced dead at Regional One Hospital following the incident, which occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Plover Drive, as reported by Action News 5.

Isaiah Agnew, 21, has been taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, among other offenses, in connection to the shooting. The Shelby County Fire Department reported to have taken a man to the hospital in a non-critical condition, while another man sustained minor injuries. Agnew is also facing charges of aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, and violating bond conditions, as noted by Action News 5.

According to WREG, the deceased victim was Halliburton. Agnew is scheduled to appear in court on the new charges Friday.

The shooting was characterized as "domestic-related" by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. Two men were involved in the altercation, alongside Halliburton. While the man's injuries were described as minor, the young woman's wounds proved fatal. "Halliburton was rushed to Regional One in critical condition," the sheriff's office said, according to a statement obtained by FOX13 Memphis. She would later succumb to her injuries in the hospital.
