The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is appealing to the public for assistance in the case of a missing 14-year-old girl, Laela Alvarez. According to a post from the sheriff's office, Alvarez was last seen on the night of Monday, April 8, in the vicinity of the 20000 block of Wilbeam Avenue, Castro Valley. She is described as having long brown hair and hazel eyes, standing 5 feet 1 inch tall, and weighing around 110 pounds. On the night she disappeared, Alvarez was spotted wearing a pink hoodie, a black jacket, blue ripped jeans, and black shoes.

Seen last, she was familiar with public transportation and had with her a cell phone but was without money, according to the sheriff's office. Known to hang around Adobe Skate Park and Castro Village Shopping Center in Castro Valley, Laela also may be found in or near San Leandro.

"We are all concerned about Laela's safety and ask for your help bringing her home," the Alameda County Sheriff's Office emphasized in a public plea.

The sheriff's office urges anyone with any information to come forward immediately. The plea extends beyond the immediate area to reach anyone who might have seen Laela or knows of her whereabouts. Members of the public who can assist in this matter are encouraged to contact the Alameda County Sheriff's Office at (510) 667-7721 or their local law enforcement agency.
