Avondale's high school Picasso's and O'Keeffes in the making, it's your time to shine; the city is calling for your brushes, lenses, and kiln-fired masterpieces for the 2024 Achieving Artists High School Scholarship Art Contest. In a move that paints Avondale as a supporter of the arts and education, the city's Municipal Art Committee is encouraging all local high school seniors to submit their works of art across any medium that tickles their creative fancy—be it photography, painting, or the earthy realms of ceramics.

This creative free-for-all kicks off April 9 and runs through to the end of the month, giving Avondale's budding artists ample time to craft something that could very well end up funding their college dreams and well the contest promises to put the best of the bunch on display at the esteemed Civic Center Library. According to the official announcement, entries will be scrutinized for their creativity and technical prowess, as though the city itself understands that the making of art is about control, precision, and the ability to convey a story within a story within the bounds of a canvas or a single frozen frame.
