Last night, Boston police nabbed a 41-year-old woman from Billerica, who now faces serious drug trafficking charges after being caught with a hefty stash of crack cocaine. According to official reports, Jodi Faria was apprehended Wednesday night by officers patrolling in the South End neighborhood.
The arrest occurred around 10:13 PM near Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street after a theft report about a stolen scooter was filed. Upon receiving word that the scooter was in the vicinity, police spotted Faria operating the two-wheeled conveyance. She attempted to swiftly evade capture, driving onto the sidewalk to escape, forcing officers to broadcast her description to finally stop and apprehend her at 650 Albany Street.
Upon searching Faria, officers discovered a large plastic bag on her person. Hidden within, a substance believed to be crack cocaine was uncovered, later confirmed to weigh approximately 32 grams. This substantial find led to Faria’s immediate arrest on multiple drug-related offenses.
Among the charges Faria is now up against are trafficking of class B, possession with the intent to distribute class B, and possessing class B drugs. This string of charges underscores an ongoing battle against the distribution and abuse of narcotics in the city. Faria is expected to be arraigned in response to these allegations at the Boston Municipal Court, as the legal process seeks to rigorously prosecute all facets of drug trafficking.
