Boston's finest took a bite out of crime in East Boston where, during a sting by the Drug Control Unit, they nabbed a man for gun and drug charges yesterday afternoon.
According to the Boston Police Department's report, officers conducting a drug investigation around 2 Jacobee Road witnessed Raymond Badgett, a 36-year-old Jamaica Plain resident engaging in suspicious exchanges – first handing an item to an individual by a fence then chatting up a vehicle's occupants before they sped off and he went to his car.
Police, suspecting a deal went down, stepped in to pull the plug: a patrol car was called to the scene, which then pulled Badgett over at the intersection of Decatur and London Streets; they spotted him reaching into his waistband, possibly hiding something, which initiated a pat frisk leading to the discovery of a loaded 'ghost gun'—complete with eight rounds and a stash of marijuana tucked away in his vehicle.
Subsequent to the arrest, Badgett is staring down the barrel of multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition and intent to distribute class D drugs, his next stop: the East Boston District Court for arraignment, as authorities continue to combat the specter of gun violence and trafficking in the city.
