Boston is getting a brief sunny reset Thursday, with mostly clear skies early and temperatures climbing toward 85 degrees before the weather turns unsettled. Showers are most likely to arrive later in the afternoon and continue into the evening, so outdoor plans have a decent opening window — just not an all-day guarantee.
Showers Move In Later Thursday
Early conditions around Boston are mostly clear, with temperatures near 72 degrees at Logan and light northwest winds. The National Weather Service expects mostly sunny skies through much of the day, followed by scattered showers from mid- to late afternoon into tonight.
Thursday night brings a 60% chance of rain showers, mostly cloudy skies and a low near 65. A few showers could have more convective oomph, but no watches, warnings or advisories are posted for Boston or the surrounding region.
Saturday Looks Like The Weekend Washout
Friday will be cooler, with a high near 77 and a 30% chance of showers, particularly in eastern and coastal areas. Saturday is the wettest part of the forecast, with a 90% chance of rain, showers and thunderstorms and a high near 73.
Rain could fall much more heavily south of Boston, especially toward the South Coast, Cape Cod and the Islands, while totals should generally be lower in the city. Sunday improves only somewhat, with a high near 81 and a 40% chance of showers or thunderstorms.
Sunshine Returns Early Next Week
The forecast finally dries out Monday and Tuesday, when mostly sunny to sunny skies return with highs near 79 and 78 degrees. For Boston residents trying to salvage a beach day, park visit or outdoor errand, the best bets are Thursday morning, Monday and Tuesday.
