The future of community engagement in Chandler just got a big boost with the city council giving the green light for a decade-long partnership with local nonprofit Live Love. The Oasis Community Center, nestled in the heart of the Galveston neighborhood, is poised to become a vibrant hub for residents seeking everything from garden tranquility to educational empowerment.
With foundations laid back in 2007, Live Love has been on a mission to knit the fabric of community closer through the leadership of locals and leveraging community strengths. Their vision for the Oasis, sited at 482 E. Erie St. just a stone's throw from bustling Downtown Chandler, is an idyllic two-acre escape that promises a confluence of culture, learning, and family. "The first phase of the Oasis is estimated to open to the public in late 2024," says the official Chandler municipal website, with a second round of construction penciled in for early 2025.
Chandler hasn't just inked a deal; they've invested in one. The city's layout of $70,936.90 from its General Fund stands as a testament to public service—it's a payment that balances the books, offsetting impact fees owed by Live Love for the Oasis delight.
The Oasis isn't reserved for quiet reflection alone; the city plans a flurry of activity within its walls. Educational events, recreational programs, and community meetings are just a taste of the scheduled city-sponsored specials. Chandler residents can soon mark their calendars for moments of both learning and leisure at their soon-to-blossom urban oasis.
