Chicago business owners are on high alert as a series of armed robberies hit local stores in the 16th and 25th Districts, according to a Business Alert issued by the Chicago Police Department. The latest crime pattern involves subjects entering businesses, threatening employees with handguns or pepper spray, and making off with cigarettes and liquor.

With incidents reported on the 4800 block of North Milwaukee Ave., the 4800 block of West Fullerton Ave., and the 4000 block of North Cicero Ave., the police are urging vigilance among business operators. The crimes occurred between April 17 and April 20, each taking place under the shroud of night—the last being reported at 8:48 pm. Speaking to owners, the Police Department emphasizes the importance of being alert and reporting suspicious loitering.

Described as two male blacks and one male Hispanic, all between the ages of 20 and 25, the offenders are at large and considered dangerous. Store owners and employees are advised to take note of any suspicious activity and ensure that their surveillance systems are operational.

Law enforcement recommends several proactive measures to deter such crimes. Businesses should alert their neighbors, pay special attention to suspicious individuals, and keep surveillance cameras functional. The Police Department advised in the event of an emergency to "Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information." The Chicago community is on edge, waiting for the next move, with the hope that these perpetrators will soon be brought to justice.
