Chicago has been hit with a string of armed robberies, but law enforcement hit back, sending a clear signal that the streets won't be surrendered to fear. Police have cuffed two teenagers linked to a crime spree that terrorized pedestrians in Hyde Park on Saturday evening, as reported by FOX 32 Chicago. The pair, aged 16 and 17, are now facing serious time with charges for felony armed robbery and aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

It all went down when four culprits bolted from a Dodge sedan and brandished guns at victims just strolling down the block, cops say, skimming their phones and wallets before escaping the scene and although the stolen Dodge was later eyeballed by officers in Englewood the police caught up thanks to the watchful eyes of a CPD helicopter, subsequently, two of the alleged punks were arrested.

The crime wave swept through the 5400 block of South Ingleside, the 4800 block of South Honore, and the 5100 block of South Drexel, according to ABC 7 Chicago. Residents were feet away from being victimized by this quartet, whose actions were so brazen that one of their heists near the University of Chicago was captured by surveillance just last week.

As fear grips a city striving for safety, the University of Chicago is not standing idly by, with university officials announcing a boost in police patrols to forge a shield of peace for its students though as investigations continue, it's not yet a lock whether the captured teens are the same individuals caught on last week's shocking tape.
