An 81-year-old man reported missing in Dallas has been found and is now safe, authorities confirmed. Ricardo Fernandez, who was last seen early Wednesday morning, sparked a citywide search after the Dallas Police Department sought public assistance in locating the senior.
Originally reported by the Dallas Police Department, Fernandez was described as sporting white hair, and brown eyes, standing at about 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing around 135 pounds. He was last seen in the 1900 block of Idaho Avenue wearing reddish-brown pants and black shoes, and it was believed he may have needed assistance. Walking on foot at approximately 3:00 a.m., the elderly man's disappearance raised immediate concerns due to his advanced age and the circumstances under which he went missing.
The Dallas Police Department, in an updated statement, expressed their gratitude to citizens and the community efforts that helped bring Fernandez back to safety. They announced his safe return on April 18, without disclosing further details regarding the circumstances of how and where he was found.
In reaching out to the community, the Dallas Police had provided a direct line to contact with information and a case number to reference. The initial outreach for the missing person had the case number 060520-2024 which was widely disseminated in hopes that quick action could be taken to locate Fernandez. Found in less time than it takes for some to realize a person is gone, this case closed with the best possible outcome.
