A blaze that took hold of a two-story Dania Beach home was vanquished by fire crews Thursday evening, with officials stating that no one was harmed due to the residence being unoccupied at the time. The fiery incident unfolded on the 600 block of Northeast Second Street around 6:45 p.m., as reported by Local 10 News.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael B. Kane described the ordeal, noting firefighters were greeted by "thick, black smoke" and visible flames when they arrived on the scene. "Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters encountered a challenging situation as thick, black smoke billowed and flames emerged from a second-floor window," Kane said in an email to Local 10 News. It took a team of approximately 35 firefighters to quell the fire, which was extinguished within 30 minutes.

The house, located near Northeast Second Street and Sixth Avenue, sustained severe damage both inside and outside, a consequence of the aggressive firefighting required to subdue the fire. The origin of the inferno is currently under investigation as the State Fire Marshal seeks to parse the cause of the blaze, as initially there were no clear igniting factors.

In a statement made to WSVN, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Reminding the public about the importance of fire safety, Battalion Chief Kane urged "all residents to remain vigilant in preventing such incidents." The full assessment of the damage and the investigative report on what sparked the fire are pending as authorities continue to work on the scene.
