In a macabre discovery that harkens back to the darkest of crime scenes, a man has been cuffed by Davie police in a shocking case of animal brutality, after a decapitated calf was unearthed in a local pasture back in October, a machete with remnants of the crime left hastily at the scene was swabbed for DNA which led to the arrest of Curry O’Meally, 31. Local 10 News reported the grievous incident took place in Davie, Florida, where the calf was found headless with a machete nearby.
Forensic analysis of the weapon yielded a DNA match to O’Meally, the man who at the same time caught a bystander's suspicion one carrying a machete on the field, the gruesome find escalated when Broward Sheriff’s Office nabbed O’Meally after they found him in possession of a baby cow head wrapped in a trash bag inside his gym bag a day later, he claimed to the deputy that the macabre object was intended for religious purposes. According to the Local 10 News report, O'Meally "intentionally used a machete to attack the legs and spine of the calf before decapitating it, which resulted in the cruel death of said calf."
O’Meally was apprehended last week in Marion County, faced with the grim ledger of charges that includes animal cruelty and trespassing, crimes that have since sent unsettling ripples throughout the Davie community.
