A brazen daylight carjacking rattled Antioch residents earlier this week when a victim's vehicle was forcibly stolen at the Kaiser medical facility on Sand Creek Road. According to the Antioch Police Department, the incident occurred on April 2, around 1:13 PM.

The unsuspecting victim, identified only as an adult male, found himself in a perilous confrontation after interrupting what appeared to be an attempt by several suspects to make off with his car. Upon arriving at the chaotic scene, officers learned that, after being confronted by one suspect, the victim feared for his safety, prompting the suspect to flee with his property towards Sand Creek Road. Recovering later in a nearby neighborhood, the police found the stolen vehicle, empty and abandoned. Several investigative leads were obtained during the initial investigation.

Local authorities quickly took charge of the scene, and within hours, their efforts yielded fruit with the location and retrieval of the pilfered car. The Antioch Police have since turned over the ongoing probe to their Investigations Bureau.

In a statement obtained by the Antioch Police Department, it was revealed that "the victim’s vehicle was later recovered unoccupied." The investigation into the carjacking continues as police sift through evidence, hoping to piece together the puzzle left by the suspects who, having momentarily claimed another's mobility as their own, vanished before they could be challenged by the hand of law and order.
