The nightlife scene in downtown Phoenix took a hit as Liar's Club announced its final call. The bar, nestled at Central Avenue and Monroe Street, ceased operations on April 14 after a 16-month stint in the city's urban core, according to AZ Central.

Liar's Club stepped onto the Phoenix bar scene in December 2022, brought to life by owners Colton Brock and John Sagasta, known for their previous ventures Khla and Baby Boy. They aimed at creating a space that served up both quality drinks and Detroit-style pizza, a concept affectionately crafted by their then-partner Tyka Chheng, before he left the partnership. The bar made its departure known via Instagram, stating, "It’s with low feelings that we must announce the closing of our beloved Liars Club," according to azcentral.com.

Regulars expressed dismay at the closing of a local haunt that marked its territory with a distinctive mix of craft cocktails, savory pies, and vibrant DJ nights. Reactions ranged from nostalgia to frustration, with one patron writing, "Anything cool downtown is closing & making room for more corporate (expletive). it’s heartbreaking to watch. sending love to your team," as reported by AZ Central. Another lamented the scarcity of top-notch Detroit-style pizza in the city.
