A motorcyclist suffered double arm fractures after an SUV driver rammed into him while trying to park in downtown San Antonio last night, police said. The accident occurred around 11 p.m. on the 800 block of North Alamo Street, according to KENS 5. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, was subsequently hospitalized.
Witnesses report the SUV was attempting to execute a parking maneuver when it clipped the motorcyclist traveling in an adjacent lane. The biker then careened into another vehicle. The victim was rushed to BAMC with his injuries, characterized by police as "plenty of scrapes and bruises," in addition to the broken arms. The SUV driver was assessed for signs of intoxication, but police believe the collision was an accident, as per KENS 5.
The San Antonio Police Department has not charged the driver of the SUV, indicating that preliminary investigations lead them to believe it was just an accident. Meanwhile, the investigation into the crash remains ongoing, with further details yet to be confirmed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate this accident, and so far, they have not expected to levy any charges against the SUV driver, as FOX San Antonio reported. The downtown area was disrupted for several hours as a result of the crash, but normal traffic patterns resumed shortly after the incident.
