A tragic incident left one driver dead after their pick-up truck collided with a tree and erupted in flames in Pelham, New Hampshire. According to NBC Boston, the accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near 970 Mammoth Road.

Pelham Police were alerted to the crash around 3:12 p.m., but by the time emergency services arrived, a black Chevy Avalanche was already fully engulfed in flames. While first responders, including the Pelham Fire Department, endeavored to control the fire, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity has yet to be made public, and no other individuals were found inside the vehicle. Consequently, Mammoth Road was shut down for over six hours during the investigation.

In a statement obtained by WCVB, Pelham Police Chief Anne Perriello described the efforts of bystanders who stopped to assist, "The people that were driving by stopped, attempted to help. The vehicle was fully engulfed, so they couldn't get close to it." Despite these attempts, the intensity of the fire thwarted rescue efforts.

A witness living near the site of the crash, Stephanie Breault, relayed to Boston 25 News, "At first it was just smoking and then a little bit of flames and then all of a sudden up to the tree… it was all fire." The community's immediate response, arming themselves with fire extinguishers, proved unhelpful against the overwhelming blaze.
