The City recently held its cut-and-dry Spring Employee Recognition Event, honoring staff members who have dedicated years of service and those just beginning their tenure, according to a recent city bulletin.

Among the highlights was the celebration of seven employees from the Eden Prairie Police Department (EPPD) for their longevity and the introduction of a single rookie to the city's ranks. But it was Projects Coordinator Sonja Ritchie Roy who stole the show. Not one to typically embrace the spotlight, Roy was handed the City Manager's Quality Award for going over and beyond in her multiple roles within the EPPD administration – a nod surely deserving of recognition.

“Sonja had a very busy 2023 with many projects related to our 50th Anniversary Celebration, coordinating new recruiting videos and more,” the EPPD reported, highlighting her tireless efforts and accomplishments. Roy's ability to effectively collaborate with others and bring innovative solutions to the table is also noted as integral to the EPPD maintaining its commitment to excellence.
