
Flames engulfed a recycling facility in Opa-locka, causing alarm and a thick cover of smoke over the area, but firefighters have successfully tamed the blaze. The fire, which occurred at the Everglades Recycling junkyard located on the 3400 block of Northwest 135th Street, was brought under control on Friday afternoon, according to WSVN.
A fleet of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were dispatched to tackle the inferno. Intense footage captured by 7Skyforce showed the scene from above around 4 p.m., with black smoke billowing from a heap of debris. The firefighters on site were seen combatting the flames using a torrent of water. Officials have not yet pinpointed the cause behind the fiery outbreak, leaving questions about how it all started.
Residents in proximity to the junkyard were warned to expect smoky conditions as a result of the blaze. Through a statement made on X, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue informed the community of the smoky conditions, acknowledging their immediate presence and swift action on the scene. The department's post alerted locals to the #FirstAlarm fire, indicating the level of emergency response enlisted to subdue the flames.

No one was reported to have been injured. A total of 15 units responded strategically to extinguish the fire, as stated by fire rescue officials.
While the fire is now under control, the investigation into what caused the fire at Everglades Recycling continues.
