In a chilling act of violence, a 48-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting a woman, believed to be his former girlfriend, before driving her body to the Florida City police station to surrender. According to Local 10 News, Alexander Roque allegedly used a Taurus Model 82 revolver to shoot 44-year-old Yesenia Rodriguez in the head, in a white 2024 Hyundai Tucson.
Adding to the horrifying details, Roque is said to have used a WhatsApp video call to show the body to Rodriguez's estranged husband, after the incident, before dialing a cousin who urged him to turn himself in to the authorities. By the time Roque pulled into City Hall and pointed out the deceased's presence in the SUV, the scene was a gruesome testament to the act he had committed — covered in blood as evidence of his deed, as reported by Local 10 News sources.
As of Sunday, Roque was in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, staring down a charge of second-degree murder with a weapon. Meanwhile, Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers are appealing to the public for any leads or information that could shed further light on this or other connected incidents. The number to reach them is 305-471-8477.
A separate report by NBC6 conveyed the quiet disturbance that rippled through Roque's neighborhood upon news of his arrest. A neighbor's doorbell camera captured Roque days before the murder, as he oddly informed her of his plans to blare loud music. His tendency towards isolation became starker over time, noted by Jose Rodriguez, a neighbor, "he tinted all the windows black so no one could see inside."
Although police have yet to officially name the victim, Florida City Commissioner Walter Thompson acknowledged Miami-Dade Police's primary role in the investigation.
