Former Texas Longhorns standout T'Vondre Sweat found himself on the wrong side of the law this past Sunday. The ex-defensive tackle was arrested by the Austin Police Department and hit with a DWI charge in Travis County, as reported by KVUE.
Caught up in legal trouble at the young age of 22, Sweat, who's a Huntsville, Texas native, was picked up by the police shortly before 2:15 p.m. and was subsequently booked into the Travis County Jail. While standing as one of football's rising talents, it seems the Outland Trophy winner pulled over in the 13600 block of IH 35 North Road, as per KVUE.
The story, as further detailed by CBS Austin, mentions that after posting a $3,000 bond, Sweat was released just hours following his arrest, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office. This incident comes at a critical juncture in Sweat's life, only weeks before the NFL Draft where he's projected to be a major pick.
Sweat's athletic prowess, detailed by his award-winning college career, includes the distinguished 2023 Outland Trophy, solidifying him as the nation's top interior lineman and garnering recognition as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Despite being projected to shine in Detroit from April 25-27 during the NFL Draft, Sweat's recent charge with a DWI could potentially smear his record, according to KVUE.
