Residents of NE 36th Street in Fort Lauderdale should brace for some construction disruptions starting next week, as the city teams up with Southern Underground Industries to make crucial improvements to the local stormwater system. Beginning on April 15, the project's focus will be on installing a new catch basin and replacing an obsolete 15-inch stormwater pipe, also catering to roadway reconstruction and parking space restoration.
According to the City of Fort Lauderdale's announcement, the construction is set to continue at least until mid-May with work hours stretching from the early morning till 5 p.m., and while NE 36th Street will remain open to locals, it's going to be one messy mix of excavation, paving, sights, sounds, and the inevitable dance of heavy machinery. Traffic control personnel will be summoned as needed to guide drivers stumbling upon these changes.
With the intention to minimize inconvenience, the construction groups plan to coordinate with the neighbors, especially concerning parking access which will be maintained during the day. "We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank our neighbors for their patience during construction," the city has stated, acknowledging the forthcoming hassles for the local Fort Lauderdale community.
