Fort Worth's City Council has greenlit a substantial $12.1 million construction endeavor aimed at enhancing the city's transportation infrastructure. The recent approval of the Trinity Boulevard Phase 2 construction contract with Jackson Construction Ltd. by the City Council marks a significant step towards revitalizing the area's connectivity, as reported by the City of Fort Worth.

This project goes beyond simply laying down another road; it forms a crucial segment of Fort Worth's Capital Improvement Program (CIP), designed to enhance travel along Trinity Boulevard. Scheduled to commence in early fall 2024, the construction promises substantial advantages for the community, particularly for residents in Council District 5, who will witness the transformation firsthand as work begins right outside their homes.

The Transportation & Public Works Department is spearheading the initiative, which includes the construction of a four-lane median-divided concrete road, accompanied by expansive 10-foot sidewalks, streetlights, and extensive landscaping. Additionally, an outdated 36-inch waterline will be replaced to ensure uninterrupted water supply.

While Phase 1 is slated to conclude by the heat of summer 2024, Phase 2 will commence its waterline construction as temperatures cool in the fall. For those frustrated by traffic congestion near IH-820, relief is on the horizon. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is expediting its construction activities near Trinity Boulevard, aiming for completion by the summer, promising smoother travel experiences soon.
