Four men in Medley, Florida, have found themselves on the wrong side of the law after being busted for a plywood pilfering plot that has left a warehouse business nearly $80,000 in the red. According to Medley Police, Guillermo Gonzalez, Rolando Diaz, Reynel Castillo, and Roylis Rodriguez engaged in an organized theft and fraud that saw premium-grade plywood systematically spirited away from a local warehouse.
In a scheme that reads like a playbook for profit pilfering, workers alleged to be Gonzalez and Diaz exploited their positions to load up materials before their shifts, as told by WSVN. These materials were then reportedly sold off across Miami-Dade County, stuffing the suspects' pockets while their employer was left scratching their heads over massive inventory shortages.
Police stated that it was the business owner's sharp eye that first noticed the discrepancy, checking surveillance footage after an inventory mismatch revealed the disappearance of plywood, as detailed in a NBC6 interview with Medley Police's Degley Chavarria. Footage showed the clandestine operations, with forklifts loading bundles of the building material onto a white pickup and a flatbed trailer.
"He sees that Gonzalez and Diaz are taking the plywood without authorization," Chavarria stated.
