Four young individuals, including one as young as 13, have been apprehended and charged in connection with an armed robbery that took place in Chicago's 19th District early yesterday morning. According to the Chicago Police Department, the group is accused of confronting a 37-year-old male, at gunpoint, to forcefully take his possessions in the vicinity of the 900 block of W. Waveland.
The suspects were caught shortly after the incident, just after 5 a.m. on April 11, 2024, being swiftly located by police officers in a vehicle reported stolen in the 6300 block of N. Freemont. It seems they had quickly moved to operate in the 900 block of W. Addison where they were picked up by responding authorities. All four have been charged, with the youngest facing one felony count of armed robbery and two counts of receiving, possessing, or selling a stolen vehicle.
Similarly, the two 16-year-old culprits have been slapped with similar charges. One of them additionally faces a felony count for possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number. The oldest of the quartet, Kalvin White, 18, of the 6900 block of S. Wabash Ave., is facing one count of armed robbery and two counts related to the stolen vehicle.
Detention hearings for the accused were scheduled to be held on April 12, 2024, at 2600 S. California. With the youths presently in custody, the legal process is set to commence, aiming to squarely address the circumstances surrounding the event and the involvement of each individual.
