In a decisive act of maternal responsibility, a mother from Holly Springs, Mississippi, took the tough love approach when she identified her teenage sons as suspects in a shooting incident involving a police officer. The woman, who requested anonymity, brought her sons, aged 17 and 18, to the authorities on Wednesday, according to details provided by WLBT.
Early Tuesday morning, Holly Springs police had attempted to pull over a vehicle witnessed driving erratically without headlights. Following a brief chase, at least two shots were allegedly fired from the suspect's vehicle, reported Action News 5.
Images from a Ring doorbell camera circulated by police helped the mother to recognize the teens in question, after which she did not hesitate to turn her sons in. "I was like, ‘Are you serious? Oh, hell no.’ I got up, and I asked questions," the mother, determined to hold her sons accountable, said in an interview obtained by WSMV.
Currently, the conditions of the officers after the attempt to stop them remain unclear, though no casualties have been reported. The circumstances leading up to the incident are still under investigation as the two teenagers face the legal repercussions of their actions, gave her no choice but to step in when the image of her sons came to light. "I don’t play no games," she told WLBT.
