According to the latest update, there's a slight chance of showers today, with mostly sunny skies turning to a higher chance of rain and some thunderstorms rolling in tonight.
Today, residents can expect a high near 57 degrees and west winds blowing around 15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph. Knoxville won't escape the possibility of rainfall, which stands at a 20 percent chance between 3 pm and 5 pm, and thunderstorms may follow after 5 pm. While heading into the evening, the wind chill could drop the temperature down, making it feel around 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
The National Weather Service specifies that tonight's chances of showers and storms before 2 am go up to 30 percent, with a subsequent slight chance of showers after 3 am. The low is expected to hit around 41 degrees, accompanied by wind speeds maintaining a brisk pace between 15 to 20 mph and potential gusts maxing out at 30 mph.
Moving into Thursday, folks in Knoxville should prep for showers likely between 8 am and 2 pm, dominated by mostly cloudy skies and a high near 50 degrees. The wind isn't letting up either, with western gusts potentially hitting 25 mph again. Up to a tenth of an inch of new precipitation is possible. Thursday night’s forecast has a 30 percent chance of pre-8 pm showers before the clouds open up to a partly cloudy sky and a low of around 38 degrees.
The rest of the week appears to bring a gradual improvement in weather conditions. The forecast for Friday shows mostly cloudy skies with a high near 52 degrees and a slight western breeze. Saturday then warms us up under sunny skies with a high of around 59 degrees, and by Sunday, temperatures are expected to soar to a nice 68 degrees.
However, the reprieve is short-lived as chances of showers and thunderstorms creep back into the picture Sunday night, with a 30 percent probability after 2 am. The start of the next work week maintains a similar pattern, with Monday and Tuesday bringing a continued chance for showers and temperatures rising into the low 70s.
