The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was quickly rushed to the hospital. Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Regional One Health Medical Center, as mentioned by the Memphis Police Department. The nearby Booker T. Washington High School was forced to go into lockdown as a safety precaution during the police investigation.
As the Memphis Police Department cordoned off the area, it was the memory of the old Gay Hawk restaurant parking lot at the corner of Danny Thomas and Georgia Avenue that served as the grim stage for the day's events, as per WREG. A witness to the shooting recalled hearing what sounded like an AR-15, which was punctuated by the sight of a car with a window shot out.
