A pre-dawn argument turned violent in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood, leading to a man being shot and another fatally struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident, authorities say. The chaos unfolded just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 5600 block of South Artesian Avenue when a man in his 30s was engaged in a heated verbal altercation, ABC7 Chicago reported.
According to the report, the argument escalated when an assailant, arriving in a black vehicle, opened fire, striking the man with a grazing shot to the left eyebrow. The victim was transported to Holy Cross Hospital and is expected to recover. Subsequently, the same vehicle fled the scene westbound on 57th Street, hitting a second man, a 27-year-old, who sustained severe head and body injuries. CBS Chicago stated that the injured man was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
As of now, Chicago Police have not made any arrests in connection to the incident. The identity of the victim who perished has not been released, and detectives from Area 1 are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting and subsequent hit-and-run.
