Starting in April, the Summer Square Screenings will deliver a trio of themed film events looking to lure residents out under the stars.
The once-a-month series announced by Marietta Parks & Recreation will feature three movies. Hitting the screen first on April 12 will be "Blue Hawaii," with the theme "Blue For You!" Roused from their homes, the residents of Marietta are invited to bask in Elvis Presley's rock-n-roll charm surrounded by a sea of blue—attire, decorations, and maybe even a themed concession or two.
Following up in May with a homage to the city's own pride, "Hidden Figures" will be spotlighted on May 17 under the "Made in May-retta" banner. The critically acclaimed film, portraying the untold story of the African American women mathematicians who played a crucial role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program, is bound to resonate deeply with audience members, drawing paralells with local history and heroes.
Finally, June 21 promises a vibrant clash of color and nostalgia with "The Lego Movie" as part of the "Bricks and Blacklights" theme.
