A massage therapist in Miami Beach has been charged with the sexual battery of a client, authorities report. Erick Carmona Barrios, 51, was arrested yesterday following a session last Friday at Sun Curves Miami that purportedly turned abusive, according to the police.
An arrest report details the victim's allegations, describing how Barrios, during a two-hour lymphatic drainage massage, began to touch her inappropriately. As noted by NBC Miami, the client, who had received similar treatments from Barrios in the past without incident, felt violated when he lowered her underpants and began massaging near her genitals.
The situation escalated, according to Local 10, when Barrios allegedly proceeded to fondle the client’s breasts and digitally penetrate her. After her pleas for him to stop were initially ignored, she managed to extricate herself by claiming the need to use the restroom.
The victim reported the incident to Sun Curves Miami's front desk while "hysterically crying" and under "severe distress"—a state confirmed by surveillance footage. The owner of the spa asserted that intimate areas are never to be touched during a lymphatic massage session, a protocol Barrios was well aware of.
During an interview with the Miami Beach police, Barrios conceded that he "could very easily have touched [the woman] in the vulva/vagina area but did not do so with wrongful intentions." Barrios is being held at the Miami-Dade Metro West Detention Center on a $10,000 bond, and an immigration hold has been placed on him due to his Cuban nationality.
