Minneapolis residents prepping for spring cleaning can take a breath of fresh air, as the city's Solid Waste & Recycling service has announced they're ready to start picking up yard waste. Beginning next week, homeowners can have their bagged leaves, grass clippings, and bunded brush beside their garbage containers come trash day, an arrangement that signals the end of winter's grip on their lawns and gardens, as reported by the City of Minneapolis Government.
According to the Minneapolis, City of Lakes, residents should place their yard debris next to their trash in biodegradable bags or reusable containers, set apart from the recyclables to ensure a smooth collection process and this initiative encourages environmental stewardship, facilitating the community's efforts to keep organic waste separate from landfills, where it contributes negatively to greenhouse gas emissions, the bags also have to be under 40 pounds to avoid any heavy-lifting issues for the sanitation workers.
